Recycling and Composting Resources for Every U.S. State
Recycling and composting programs are crucial for any sustainability plan — and those plans are more widespread than ever. Nearly 90 percent of the business leaders surveyed in a Deloitte study said they invest in sustainable resource management, with half of them citing the lower cost of waste reduction, recycling, and composting as the top driver for these actions. Those companies didn’t have to develop their programs alone; help is available. This page is designed to guide planners to that help, no matter which state (or states) they operate in.
If you’re just getting started with sustainable materials management — or if you’re looking for ways to help fund existing institutional recycling or composting efforts in the United States — your first stop will probably be the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Click here to access EPA environmental tools, here for EPA grants, and here for an overview of federal environmental resources.
But assistance for sustainable materials management in the U.S. doesn’t stop at the federal level. States also provide resources that can help companies and institutions succeed with their green materials management initiatives. Below, find state-by-state links to these environmental resources, specifically for composting and recycling efforts at workplaces of all types.
State Recycling Programs, Environmental Regulations, and More
Select your state from the list below to access composting and recycling resources in your area. These links connect you to:
- State environmental regulatory agencies that may be able to assist with recycling or composting programs.
- Local environmental organizations.
- State environmental regulations pertaining to waste management.
- Recycling grants and other funding opportunities.
- Other local resources as available
Use this guide to create an outreach checklist as you implement sustainable waste management programs. These links provide full contact information for the environmental regulatory agencies that oversee materials management in your state, as well as access to environmental funding portals and programs where applicable. Check with your state’s sustainability agency, as well as local organizations, for detailed information on state recycling programs and other vital tips about green materials management where you operate.
Sustainable materials management requires organizations to diversify their waste streams by separating compost, recyclables, and landfill-bound materials. Solus Group can help make this process safe and efficient with a complete line of Mobile Bins and Carts, Bin Dumpers, and even a Turnkey Waste Handling Solution that’s ideal for large campuses and outdoor events.
